Day in Review

July 17th, 2010 — 6:58pm

The start of something new.  Though the job has not panned out, I still have much to work with, and all in all I am not disappointed.  I can move forward simply on having done all that was possible.  In addition, I actually feel a bit relieved.  Don’t ask why (I know you won’t).  There is lots to do, but I feel like there are no tasks for me to take on.  Can’t find a spot to jump in, so I’ll just sit and wait.  Capture the flag in half an hour.
We sent 4 people to the hospital for various things today.  It ranks as a pretty solid day worth of incidents, but certainly not the worst that we have had (I believe the record is six?).  As an active summer camp with more than 700 people living and working in one location, four in a day is not all that bad.  This particular game of capture the flag has been know to create many injuries, so we will see if that medical count goes up before the end of the evening.  Particular mention was made the we need to keep in “wellness” oriented, but who knows if that will have any effect.
China is still on my mind as always, and I want so much to hop on a plane and head over the water for a while.  I don’t know what I would do, or even why I want to go, it just seems to call my name most days.  Even more so on the days when things are not going well.  I can almost gauge what kind of mood I am in by my desire to visit the Middle Kingdom.  I want my girlfriend to come with me, but I don’t know if she would really want to, and even less if she would like it.  She and I are planning to go on a cruise, relax and drink some cocktails, which, at this moment, sounds just fine to me.
